I'm a Lunar Lady!

I had my first MOPS meeting on Wednesday this week and I dont even have a word for how great it was. It was "wonder-fantastical"!

When I first walked in I asked a lady where the nursery was. I think she could smell the "new mom" smell on me because she asked if I had labeled all of Ellie's belongings. OH CRAP! I thought, so thats what those name labels the church sent me were for. In pro-mom fashion, she whipped out her sharpie and told me to label Ellie Kate's bottles and wipes case. Thanks girl!
I dropped Ellie Kate off at the nursery (to a super-nice lady named Nina) and headed over to the meeting room.

I walked in and found my assigned table. There was a mini-rocket ship in the center that said "Lunar Ladies". How cute! Each table has a name. There are the Galaxy Girlfriends, Moon Gals, Cosmic Chicks, and Rocket Moms.
The meeting began and I met some incredible women. (Hi Jo, Mindy, Susie, Julianne, Tiffany, and Rainer!)

Joyce got up and spoke about the importance of routines and scheduling and how God created His world with order. It was very interesting. She encouraged us to get up every morning and get ourselves ready for the day, make up the bed, and spend time with the Lord. Sounds simple right? But most days I had been just rolling out of bed and spending the entire day in my pjs, and then if I needed to go somewhere I would just throw on some workout clothes and pull my hair up and head out. But she reminded us, "You never know who you will run into". It could be my ex boyfriend or my future employer! But more than that, I should do these thing for myself and for Ellie. Because as she gets older, she will start to notice that her Mamma takes pride in her appearance every day.

One of the coolest things about the day was meeting Rainer. She is a pilot's wife just like me! I know we will have a lot to talk about and will be able to help each other through the tough times while are hubs are away.

I left that day with a big smile on my face. Not only was my face smiling, but my heart was smiling too. I had been praying and longing for a group of women I could grow with as a mom..and I'm so thankful that God led me to this group.

We have some exciting things planned this semester:
Chicks in the Kitchen- a supper club
A trip to the NHC retirement home
Playdates with my other Lunar Ladies
and I'm also going to be participating in my very first Beth Moore Bible Study!

It was great meeting you Katie! I look forward to getting to know you more and your adorable daughter too. MOPS has been a HUGE blessing to me over the years. Are you taking the Beth Moore study at The Journey? If so, I am too! We need to chat soon.

I'm so glad you had a great time with newfound friends. The advice you got is sooo true! Always be true to yourself and pay attention to you everyday.
We need our husbands and our children but we also need other women around us! My friends have been such a blessing...as you know. I know yours will be too.

Love to the "flower" and you.

Hi Katie! I just got involved with MOPS out here in L.A. and I think it is amazing, too! So great to have a way to get plugged in and learn the ins and outs of being a mommy :)

Hope you're doing great!
