P.L.A.Y

Today was ALL ABOUT some playing.

I woke Ellie Kate (sidenote: I'm going to attempt to call her Ellie Kate from now on, instead of just Ellie...it may or may not last) up early from her nap so we could go to our playdate.

We went to a new friend's house and sat in the floor with 5 other moms and rugrats.

Dont let her smile fool you. She was an anti-social diva the entire time. She whined and complained and didnt play with any of the other babies. She wouldnt even look at them.

The best part was when all the other babies that are younger than her started crawling around and standing up and doing algebraic equations. Okay so maybe that last part wasnt true...
But seriously. Crawl already!!!!

After our get together it was MY time to play. So we took a trip to The Mommy Playground (Hobby Lobby) to get some craft supplies.

Today I made some decoupage letters to spell the word "PLAY" in our bonus room.

Here is what I used:
- 4 wooden letters from hoblob $1 each (30% off tday!)
- 4 pieces of scrapbook paper from the clearance section .35 cents each
- 1 bottle of Mod Podge $5.99 ish (needed this for my stash anyway)

Instructions:
1. Lay your letter on top of your scrapbook paper and trace around it.
2. Cut that out.
3. Paint a layer of Mod Podge onto your wooden letter.
4. Lay your paper letter that you just cut out on top and line it up.
5. Brush on another coat of Mod Podge on top of the paper, You're Done!
**you can also sand the edges of the paper down to match the wooden letter more exactly but.......im lazy.

Here is the finished product!

Please ignore the mess on the floor. That's what playrooms are for!

So cute! I am redoing my bedroom and want to do some wall art and I think those letters will fit the bill. I think I might put up love or forgive.

Uhm, I LOVE that idea, and I'm so going to put this away for when we have a kiddo because we're not going to be allowed to paint, unless we move to some place we can! TOO CUTE!! :)

My baby didn't start crawling till 9 months. And that was low crawling, not even real crawling. She finally started really crawling around 10 months. I used to take her to little gym class and she would just lay there while all the other kids her age and younger would be crawling all over the place. Now she won't sit still.

Love them!

How did you hang them up? I have letters similar to yours and I'm wondering how to mount them to the wall.

Holy crap Katie, those are awesome!!!! I have been dying to do those for Jillian's room but didn't want to pay $70 for her long name. Can you post or let me know how you hung them on the wall? So awesome!! Love it!

SUPER cute letters!!

And you should be glad Ellie doesn't crawl yet. Hehe ;) Cam is into everything. Kleenex, magazines, etc. One minute he's in the living room, I go to get a drink and I come back and he's gone!

But I understand where you're coming from. Cam didn't crawl until he was 9 months and he is just now (at 10.5) crawling on his hands and knees. They do these things in their own time. :)

Love it!! Your craftiness if giving me great ideas to attempt when we move next month.

On a side note don't worry about Ellie not crawling. Caleb isn't quite there yet either, and I have finally stopped working myself up over it. Just think, we are blessed because we do not have to chase them around the house just yet :)

I always wondered about how to do a craft like that. And when Ellie Kate smiles like that, she looks just like you.

I love the playroom letters! When I saw Diane's blog entry with hers, last week, I wanted to do the same thing. Even with you both putting step by step instructions, I'd still find a way to mess it up...I'll leave the crafting to you girls!

You did a great job :)

Super cute! Your decoupage looks much better than mine. I always get bubbles. Terrible, terrible bubbles.

I love those letters! I just did something similar except I did the word 'Spring' and used fabric to cover the letters instead of paper. :)
