Inspired by this blog, I decided I wanted an embroidery machine for Christmas this year. Then, I convinced Josh that we should go ahead and buy it NOW so I could use it for all of Ellie’s Christmas outfits. So off to walmart we went, and dropped $350 on my new toy.
(I Know!)
I bought the Brother SE-400 Embroidery & Sewing Machine.
I spend tons of time researching machines, and this one came out the best for beginner embroidery. If you are obsessed with monograms like me and have ever wanted to be able to do it on your own, I highly recommend this machine. Here are some of the projects I’ve done so far:
All of Ellie’s items were purchased at a consignment sale for cheap (less than $7 each) and I just added her monogram to spice them up!
I was so blessed to receive a boatload of clothes for Foster from my friend, Diane. She has two boys and just had a baby girl, so we swapped baby clothes! The onesie and boppy cover above came from her : )
The outfits above are from a 3-pack of solid white onesies purchased at Target. I decided to try out the applique function of my machine on these, and I have to say I love it!

Anyway, I wanted to share this just in case you want to put one of these fun machines on your Christmas list this year. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like more information!

Oh I have tons of questions! I do not have any sewing experience, so how easy is it to use? I am so impressed with your work!
I have been back and forth for a few months on gettng one of these machines! I love monogramming and feel like I could do so much but I am so afraid that if I get the machine it will be too hard and difficult for me to figure out and I won't hardly use it. Do you think it is easy? How hard is it? How hard was it to do the appliques?????
Thanks!!
Ditto to the above. I'm a beginner so how easy it to use?
Your projects look GREAT!!! Please share the level of difficulty, especially for a beginner. I'm drying to try it out!
Love all of the outfits, great job! I wish I knew how to use a sewing machine...
Love your projects! You should do a video if how it works. IS it a long process to monogram something? How different is it from using a sewing machine?
Those are so cute!! I'm getting a sewing machine for Christmas and I can't wait to start a bunch of projects! An embroidery machine might be next on my list... :)
LOVE everything you have done so far! Thanks for the recommendation on the machine, I think I could totally do this!
