Have you heard of The Elf on the Shelf? I hadnt, until last year. Or was it the year before? Oh well, we got this book set when Ellie was just a baby. It’s a story about an elf that Santa sends to your house to “watch over” the kids. Every night he flies to the North Pole and reports the kids’ behavior to Santa. So you are supposed to move him every night while everyone is sleeping, and they can see where he “landed” in the morning! This is the first year we have opened it, and although Ellie doesn’t quite get it yet, she’s excited!
Earlier this week, CBS played the animated version of The Elf on the Shelf, so after school today I let Ellie watch it. She was mesmerized!
She has a habit of pulling the skin off her top lip. She definitely gets this from her Daddy.
I just love that little pug nose.
We had such a great time watching our first Christmas movie of the season. Tonight I’m recording the old clay-mation version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. What are your favorite movies to watch at Christmastime?

So sweet! I don't have an elf, but I have lots of friends who teach kindergarten-2nd grade who have them in their classrooms. Have you looked on pintrest for all the fun things you can do with them?

My friend is doing Elf On A Shelf this year and I loooove the idea! I'd never heard about it before. My little one is only five months old this holiday, but maybe next year!
This is hilarious. I saw "Elf on the Shelf" last week at the bookstore and had no clue what it was. Now, you're blogging about it! Things come full circle. I love this idea. Even if the wee-one doesn't understand it just yet, she will certainly cherish this memory of the holidays as she grows up. Such a good mama!
Today my kids at school told me that I should call one to come down from the North Pole! Ha! Maybe I should ... I bet they would be little angels until winter break!
I can't wait to have the elf on the shelf when I have children, love this tradition!
My favorite movie to watch during christmas time is Home Alone. I grew up with that movie and have probably watched it a million times, but I still love it!
We don't have an Elf on a shelf - maybe in a few years... I love Ellie's toile jumper! Never seen the Elf on a Shelf movie; Mommy's favorite Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th Street (the original one), and Daddy like the old school muppets in Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas.
Katie, I found this pin on Pinterest http://blossombunkhouse.com/2011/11/08/101-elf-on-the-shelf-ideas-2/ for 101 Ideas For Elf on a Shelf! I've been meaning to go to the store and get the Elf.
I don't celebrate Christmas, but I love The Holiday. It's such a good movie, so sweet!
